Inguinal Hernia
Groin Bulge

An **inguinal hernia** occurs when part of the intestine or fatty tissue pushes through a weak spot in the abdominal muscles, often in the groin area. It’s caused by increased abdominal pressure, weak muscles, obesity, or a family history. Symptoms include a visible bulge in the groin, pain or discomfort during physical activity, and tenderness around the bulge. In some cases, complications like strangulation (cutting off blood supply) can cause severe pain and require urgent treatment. Treatment usually involves surgery to repair the opening, either through traditional or laparoscopic methods. Lifestyle changes, such as avoiding heavy lifting and maintaining a healthy weight, can help prevent further hernias.
