What is Hernia?
Hernia is a protrusion of an organ or part of an organ or even fatty tissue from its original position to the other place through a weak point
What do we mean by inguinal hernia?
When hernia occurs in the inguinal area (lower part of abdomen/ pubic area) is called inguinal hernia
How do you know you have an inguinal hernia?
Patient notice a swelling/ lump (or a protrusion ) in his pubic( inguinal area) area. Sometimes patients feel a dull pain in his inguinal area. This mass/ lump increase if patient stands/walk for long time or during coughing.
Why inguinal hernia occurs?
Many factors may be responsible:
a. Congenital sac my present since birth that may be responsible for childhood and adult hernia
b. Chronic constipation or urinary difficulties (straining on urination) may be responsible.
C. In elderly male there may be long time bad cough, prostatic enlargement (big prostate) etc. may be responsible
Do you need to go to the hernia surgeon when you notice a hernia?
Yes it is necessary to visit your surgeon to check your issue and discuss it to your surgeon. An experienced hernia surgeon can give you a good guide for your necessary treatment/surgery
Does inguinal hernia require Surgery?
Inguinal hernia has no medical treatment, surgery is the only treatment except very old age and patient may have bad co-morbid factors
